As many of you know, my life has changed completely since I started this site including moving to a new state and getting married. It seems that these life changes really screwed me in the long run with the domain name atkinsalltheway.com.

The reason the site was down so long is because I had to prove that I was the same Brian Zimmerman that purchased the domain. I had to do this without having access to my old email address, old credit card, old everything. This took a lot of time to send faxes, personal documents, driver's license, etc. However, it was not all my fault and I'm a little disappointed in GoDaddy's support system. But at the same time, I understand their security measures, I just wish they had worked a little harder to satisfy me and gotten back to me more quickly.

This weekend, an electrical explosion occurred at the data center that hosts our Website. The explosion then produced a fire that knocked down three walls surrounding the electrical equipment room   Thankfully, no one was injured.  In addition, no customer servers were damaged or lost.

The employees of the data center were allowed back into the building to physically inspect the damage on Sunday morning.  Early indications are that the short was in a high-volume wire conduit.  The reason the site remained down is because the operations department was not allowed to activate their backup generator plan based on instructions from the fire department.

This was a significant outage, impacting approximately 9,000 servers and 7,500 customers of the data center, including us.

In recent days, certain errors and inconsistencies have come to our attention. Some major issues include:

• Unread posts results show zero new posts, however, the Recent Topics box has activity.
• The extended blog editor is hard to use for those with Internet Explorer.
• Posts "Disappearing on people", hopefully fixed.This was strange in that users were posting but they could not see their post in thread view, however, when replying again, they could see their post in the editor preview section below the editor box.
• Log in issues with the error talked about here.
• "forgotten password reminder" not emailing users. Hopefully fixed as well with a small tweak in a file.
• Users leaving chat, but the header on the page indicating...

Introducing Blogs

Atkins All The Way is proud to provide you with blogs to announce your progress to the world. Every user with 30 or more posts can create a blog of their very own. It has nothing to do with the forum other than that. That means that there are no forums to look through to read blogs.

When you visit the site, you will see a link at the top called, "Show unread Blogs since last visit."
When you click on this, you will be able to read all new blogs like you would read unread forum posts.

You can access the blog index by clicking the 3rd link on the horizontal navigation menu called, "Blogs" Here you can see who has a blog or create one yourself. Each user administers their own blogs and you can even set up categories like I did for Site Administration posts and Weight Loss posts.

Atkins All The Way Chat

Atkins All The Way will be having a chat at 8 pm EST on Wednesday evening to talk about the changes with the new site and you can ask questions of me as well. We will meet in the Lounge, which is the default entry room for Chat.

You can get to chat, only if you are a member, by clicking on the "Chat" link at the top site on the dark blue navigation bar. You can log in with your normal username and password, as it is tied to the same database as our forum membership.

I hope to run no more than an hour, but I will welcome any newcomers that have questions as well.
